Elonex Onet+ Laptop

I’ve finally received my Elonex Onet+ laptop. It was originally going to just be a One laptop but they offered me a free upgrade, so I took it.

It’s specs are pretty basic, something like a 400mhz processor, 1GB storage space.

When I first opened it, the build quality was apparent that it’s less then A class. It feels cheap and light. But, on the other hand, it was cheap, and it is light. Its much lighter then my EeePC.

Another thing that I noticed is that it doesn’t look like it’s intended to be upgraded. So much so that you can’t even eject the battery. It’s just inside a plastic cover with screws over it. I wouldn’t be surprised if inside the RAM is soldered straight onto the motherboard too.

It’s all pretty standard. Worth the £110 I paid for it though, even if it is just for accessing the internet.

If you’re anything like me you probably don’t need to use your laptop for a million and one things. You may want it purely for the internet in order to go on social media sites, or to Visit www.o2.co.uk/ or to do research for work. If you’re just accessing the internet then you don’t need something really flash. This laptop is actually perfect for what I need it for at the moment.

I have received two and neither of them work, after many phone calls and resets i have now been waiting a week for a returns label.

I’d heard of another persons not working too. To be honest, I’d try and get a refund if you can. The EeePC is much better and a not too different price now.

I bought mine for £230ish back in Feb, did a memory upgrade on it and I’ve had no real issues with it since. Its speedy, much much faster then the Elonex Onet+ offering.

I can confirm though that the Elonex Onet+ does have 2GB of SSD on it, even though it hides the systems 1GB from you.

I’ve got the command line on it now thanks to someones great init.d plugin from http://www.littlelinuxlaptop.com/ which is a good resource. I just found the Onet+ too slow to be usable, especially since using my EeePC.

Bought two for family, one fine if limited the other has problems and upgrades will not download. Spent number of hours with support at my expense to no avail. Asked for collection and refund, refused. I am in contact with trading standards to chase collection and refund. keep you posted.

I’m disappointed by the Elonex One to be honest, given the price of some competing systems and the fact they are coming with Atom processors now this PC should have been priced at £50, not £100.

Did anyone buy a one plus over Christmas? My family purchased several and found that ALL except one appear to be REFURBISHED! The one that is new was purchase not directly for Elonex! Elonex is refusing the claim but we have prove and will be taking to Trading Standard.

Check back and see if the serial numbers and other information is unclear if not unreadable. This is not new!

If anyone is having this problem please post on site.

I think the demand over Christmas was too much and they sent REFURBISH AS NEW!
