Adobe Opens Flash

Adobe Logo

Well, it looks like Adobe has thrown down the Gauntlet to Microsofts Silverlight with their Open Screen Project.

They’ve removed licensing fees on SWF and FLV specs allowing anyone who wants to create a device to avoid the costs of supporting flash.

Their intentions are to make it so that Flash is available on all players. Basically removing the need for developers to consider anything else as if Flash is free, why bother looking elsewhere when its already widely used.

BBC iPlayer, now with flashy goodness

BBC iPlayer

Well, it looks like the BBC has done some good work and made an online iPlayer version which runs on flash.

This allows you to view the programmes you pay for (yes you tax payers) on more then just Windows :)

You can’t download them to your PC on other operating systems but that doesn’t matter so much to me, I want to watch it on demand, not download it then watch it when I want.

Check it out: BBC iPlayer

Its a very nice interface, especially when you goto send the link on, nice touch with the zoom out of what your watching BBC :)
